Child's Play was started in 1985 by Susy Waters. She had graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. 25 years later she is the owner and director of Child's Play. Our center was established to provide quality care for the children and families that we serve. The original building was built as a school which has four classrooms. When it was constructed in 1954, it was located on the west end of Omaha....now it is located in the middle of the city. The building is all masonry and has the highest rating for fire resistance by the NFPA because of it's construction. A few years ago, the construction on 72nd street has changed the look of our center. The city constructed a concrete wall along the edge of 72nd. Although you can't see the center as well from the street, it has provided a safe barrier from the traffic. |
